Intertechelectro – New Generation started the construction of combined cycle powerplant in Kurgan
The ceremonial beginning of the construction was held on September 26, 2007. The TETs-2 powerplant with the electric capacity of 222 MW and thermal capacity of 250 Gcal/h will resolve the challenges of energy shortfall for more than 40% in Kurgan region.
The primary equipment includes two gas turbines each rated at 76 MW (GE Energy), two steam extraction turbines with the capacity of 35 MW (Siemens) and two waste heat recovery boilers of different pressures. Two peak boilers (the back-up boilers) each rated at 50 Gcal/h are also installed in the main building.
The declared electrical efficiency of the powerplant is 50.3% that outmatches those of the ex-isting Russian steam powerplants producing 36-38%. Besides the coefficient of fuel usage is 86%, NOx emission is reduced 2-3 times.
The TETs-2 powerplant will operate on natural gas transported through the Urengoy-Surgut-Chelyabinsk pipeline.
The commissioning of the powerplant will be two-staged. The commissioning of the first 111 MW block is to be carried out in the third quarter of 2009; the second block - in the second quarter of 2010. The development plan makes provision for the third similar power block in the main po-werplant building. The usage of two or more monoblocks will improve the power supply reliability and allow the maintenance and repair works to be carried out without a complete stop of the power-plant. Besides it allows the fuel to be consumed more efficiently in conditions of the variable range of thermal and electric loads.
The construction will be invested privately.
