Cooling of high temperature gas turbine blades: the current state
Thermal tests of the first GTE-160 gas turbine plants at Kaliningradskaya TETs-2 heat and powerplant

GTU-50 MW gas turbine package experience at Kazanskaya TETs-1 heat and power plant

Renat Khaliullin –
Power Generating Company, Kazanskaya TETs-1 heat and power plant
Viktor Borodin, Sergey Kulagin – Motorostroitel

Overaged electric power plants necessiate modernisation, reconstruction or construction of new power generating facilities. The application of several gas turbine packages with heat recovery systems instead of overaged gas boilers is efficient for small electric power plants at the existing fuel prices. The rest equipment comprising of steam pipelines, a steam turbine, a generator, water preparation units and electric equipment can be used without new capital costs.

New design of a multi-case turbine compressor with a gas turbine drive

Vladimir Panenko, Vladimir Danileyko, Yury Zinchenko, Victor Timofeev,
Vasiliy Kholod – Sumy Frunze NPO

In recent years Sumy Frunze NPO along with the traditionally supplied gas compression packages performed several orders to develop the compressor equipment for oil and petrochemical industry. The equipment featuring high pressure ratio and final pressure of the compressed gas required the development of the multi-case compressors with a step-up gear, the application of non-traditional approaches to the design and calculation and also the development of the new compressor cases.

NK-20ST new engine development. The prototype tests

Rais Yusipov, Andrey Markushin – KMPO

Due to the development of the remote northern fields and the growth of gas production Gazprom needs to increase the power of the driving engines. The application of the engines rated at 25–35 MW increases pressure in the gas pipeline thus the number of the compressor stations is reduced. Delivery of powerful station engines to remote stations is rather difficult thus light and reliable aircraft drives will most likely be preferable. New driving gas turbines are designed around the 4th generation aircraft engines (NK-36ST, NK-36ST-30), the development itself takes time. Thus one of the options is modernisation and boosting of the existing engines. KMPO together with Aviamotor used NK-16-18STD engine, the modification of NK-16ST — the most reliable Gazprom drive.

The most stressed components of GTE-65 gas turbine package: the results of model tests

Alexander Lebedev, Nikolay Simin – Power Machines
Vladimir Mikhailov – TsKTI
Vladimir Gusev – Ivchenko-Progress

Power Machines realises the project of GTE-65 gas turbine package of the average capacity class. One of the important stages in the development of the package prototype is the performing of the model tests of the most critical components at the special test benches.

What mechanical drive gas turbine engines are necessary for the Ukrainian pipeline network?

Artem Khalatov – Institute of Engineering Thermophysics,
National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kiev)
Dmitry Kostenko – VNIPITransGaz (Kiev)

The International Power Summit and Power Forum concluded on May 23, 2008 in Kiev. It was declared the Ukraine requested the help of the European Union in the development of the joint energy policy including the reconstruction of the Ukrainian pipeline network. As supposed, the volume of natural gas transit to Europe will remain the same. The European commission will allocate 2.5 billion dollars in the autumn of 2009.

The quality of gas treatment at compressor stations

Vladimir Pchelkin, Stepan Podlegaev, Dmitry Sivkov, Olga Lisitsyna – VNIIGAZ

For economic, efficient and reliable operation of gas transportation system it is necessary to remove solid and liquid impurities from the transported gas. If the content of impurities in the transported gas is high the gas flow in the gas pipeline is reduced due to the increase of pressure losses at transportation, the reduction of efficiency and reliability of gas compression equipment at the compressor stations. Impurity removal provides the increase of efficiency and the reduction of power consumption by gas compression equipment. Thus providing the economic, efficient and reliable operation of gas treatment equipment and facilities at gas pipeline compressor stations is an important and topical problem.

How to estimate efficiency of energy supply systems

Sergey Zharkov – Energy Systems Institute of the SB RAS

The article describes the measures of environmental pollution reduction, economy of fuel, development of CHP and large–scale use of renewable energy sources and, accordingly, estimation of their efficiency

Dry Gas Dynamic Seals And Buffer Gas Treatment: The Commissioning Experience At Ural Gas Compression Packages

Mikhail Yunitskiy – Iskra-Turbogaz, Ltd
Sergey Fedoseev – Iskra RPA JSC

Since 2003 Iskra-Turbogaz has collected the significant experience on the production, assembly, commissioning and start-up of Ural gas compression packages with compressors equipped with dry gas seals.

The features of the air filtration systems to the test results and operation experience

Roman Konovalov, Alexander Agafonov – Karat RSK

The results of gas turbine package air filtration system operation research are given in the article. The gas turbine packages installed at the enterprises of the Moscow integrated power company were used for the research. The following points were covered: the comparative characteristics of the air filtration quality using various filter elements, the relation of the ambient conditions with the initial dust content and the air filtration system efficiency, the main reasons of the compressor flowpath contamination. The necessity of the gas turbine package operation based on the actual state of the flowpath contamination is noted.
