State testing of the first domestically produced gas turbine for Russian Navy was carried out at Saturn
On November 25, 2006 the State Commission signed the acceptance certificate for the M75RU marine gas turbine engine at Saturn...
The engine’s maximum output is 7000 hp. This event confirms that the first fourth generation Russian marine gas turbine has completed assembly and testing. A whole range of engines for the Navy, the Frontier Troops, and for civil vessels will be designed around it. Saturn has become one of the companies which can design and produce the marine gas turbines independently.
State testing of marine gas turbines has therefore been carried out in our country for the first time. A state commission under the chairmanship of Captain Mikhail Alexandrov worked at Saturn during the month. Testing of the pre-production models of the M75RU gas turbine did not show up any problems, and the engine was accepted by the state commission and recommended for installation in Russian Navy vessels.
Modern systems incorporated into this gas turbine have also been designed, supplied and tested. Systems manufactured by Saint Petersburg companies include the Sheksna-07 multiprocessor local control system (manufactured by Avrora), the SVD 70/75 vibration monitoring system (Technicheskiye Systemy & Technology), and the engine start system (TsNII SET). An interactive electronic control system designed by Istok Company considerably facilitates operation.
Saturn is planning to submit another marine gas turbine, the 14000 hp M70FRU, for testing in 2008. Besides the M75RU and M70FRU projects, Saturn and Zorya-Mashproekt are collaborating in construction of the Russian M90FR marine gas turbine, rated at 27500 hp.
Saturn will be granted investments to build Russian marine gas turbines in accordance with the federal programme “Defence Industry development for 2007-2010 and for the period to 2015”. The vice-chairman of the state commission, Colonel Sergey Shchetinkin, reported that the special equipment had been purchased at the expense of the Defence Department, with delivery scheduled for 2007. A multipurpose test stand for marine engines and power generation units will be constructed at the main Saturn production facility. The Federal Industrial Agency has already approved its design assignment. |
