Sakhalin-2 as a platform for new technical solutions

Alexander Gorshkov – Gas Turbo Technology

The Sakhalin-2 project covers about 10% of the oil-and-gas resources of Sakhalin island.
It is one of the largest global projects worldwide on oil and gas production and the largest in Russia in terms of the volume of foreign investments.
The project is aimed at oil and gas extraction, liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, and subsequent sales on the world market.

Operating experience of Baltika-25 gas compression packages at Severgazprom compressor stations

Eduard Vasilyev, Andrey Razumov – Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta

Three Baltika-25 gas compression packages manufactured by Siemens were commissioned at Ukhtinskaya compressor station operated by Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta (former Severgazprom) in December 2006 and three more compressor packages were commissioned at Vuktylskaya compressor station in June 2007. Baltika-25 gas compression package (Table) consists of Siemens primary equipment. The SGT-600 gas turbine was manufactured at Siemens’ facility in Finspong (Sweden); the 12MV2A centrifugal compressor was produced at Siemens’ manufacturing facility in Duisburg (Germany). The compressor package is located in the independent enclosure (sandwich panels are installed on the metal frame) without an intermediate partition between the supercharger compartment and gas turbine.

Gas turbines with steam injection

Vyacheslav Belyaev, Alexander Markelov – Salut

Small gas turbines below 25 MW were ordered increasingly in the end of 1970-es by oil and gas producing, oil processing, chemical, metallurgical and mining industries. A lot of mobile gas turbine plants were bought by constructors from Siberia and Far East, Middle East countries, South-East Asia and India. At present the demand for small-scale power generation has increased significantly.

Selection of gas turbines for heat and power plant reconstruction

Evgeny Ilyin – Moscow Power Engineering Institute

Until now Russian power industry was mostly developed due to commissioning of new steam turbine units which have higher initial parameters and unit capacity. Initial parameter increase led to the improvement of thermal cycle and the reduction of specific fuel consumption. It lasted till the beginning of the seventies when the equipment parameters became supercritical.

A brand new Zorya-Mashproekt expander generating unit

Vyacheslav Romanov, Valery Sitnikov – Zorya-Mashproekt

The relative power output of 30–50 kW per one thousand ncm can be provided through operation of expander generating units utilising energy of expanded natural gas from the gas supply system.

The technology of prote ctive gas-circulation coatings

Vladimir Lesnikov, Valery Kuznetsov - TURBOMET

The authors summarise the accumulated experience of the gas circulation method for applying protective coatings to air-cooled turbine blades, consider the dynamics of the process, the coating formation technology, and the coating properties.

The metallurgy of granules of nickel-based heat-resistant alloys is a stable basis for development and progress in turbomachinery

Boris Bondarev, Genrikh Garibov, Leonid Buslavsky, Alexey Kazberovich –
All-Russian Institute of Light Alloys (VILS)

One of the factors causing variations of material strength of gas turbines is the structural anisotropy of materials which leads to a reduction in the operational reliability of highly stressed structural components. The use of constructional powder metallurgy is one of the possible ways to provide a high level of material isotropy.

Comprehensive comparative analysis of air filtration equipment

Vladimir Zhokhov – specialist in filtration equipment for gas turbines, member of ASME

The article focuses on analysis of complex air filtration systems operated at Russian combined heat and power plants, reveals their design deficiencies and offers an overview of state-of-the-art air filtration technologies.

Iskra-Turbogaz has been producing gas compression packages for over 5 years

Mikhail Unitsky, Alexey Rassulov – Iskra-Turbogaz

In December 1994 Gazprom and Perm region companies accepted Ural – Gazprom complex programme of cooperation. Its aim is creating the regional centre for development and serial production of the equipment for gas producing and transporting companies of Gazprom. It was implemented by the leading machine–building companies in Ural region. It resulted in a new range of Ural gas compression packages rated at 4, 10, 12, 16 and 25 MW. Iskra was the developer and manufacturer of the first packages.
