Shtokman field development
The demand for combined cycle plants in Russia is growing
Reduction of life cycle cost of end gas seals for gas compression packages

Shtokman field development

Alexander Smirnov – Gas Turbo Technology

The field is located in the central part of the shelf, Russian sector of Barents Sea 600 km to the north–east from Murmansk.
The field will be a resource base for gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream pipeline constructed across the Baltic seabed.

The demand for combined cycle plants in Russia is growing

Alexander Lebedev, Georgy Butalov –
Leningrad Metal Plant (LMZ), Power Machines department

It is difficult to believe that 7–8 years ago there was only one combined cycle plant in Russia. It was Severo–Zapadnaya combined heat and power plant in Saint-Petersburg. Due to dynamic changes within recent years many power generating plants were reequipped. Thus the available finance of many power generating companies were used for the construction of efficient combined cycle plants.

Air intakes for large gas turbine powerplants

Leonid Khomenok, Vladimir Mikhailov, Vladimir Sherapov, Alexander Strashnikov,
Dmitry Milyukov – NPO CKTI
Viktor Mishkin – Ivanovskiye PGU
Andrey Karachev – Tsentrenergotekhnadzor

The article describes the main principles of air intake design and the conditions of air filtration system supplies for GTE-110 gas turbine powerplants produced by Saturn. The necessary background information is given for the right choice of layout and design solutions in the process of air intakes and air filtration systems designing according to General technical specification for gas turbine powerplant air filtration systems approved by RAO UES of Russia in 2007.

Combined cycle packages with a steam turbine driven compressor

Arkady Zaryakin, Sergey Arianov, Vladislav Zaryakin, Sergey Storozhuk –
Moscow Power Engineering Institute

This article describes an unconventional arrangement of the combined cycle package with a compressor connected to the steam turbine. So the actual power output of the gas turbine is used only for driving a generator.

Reduction of life cycle cost of end gas seals for gas compression packages

Viktor Sedov – Gazprom
Sergey Falaleev – Samara State Aerospace University

The ways of cost reduction for development, repair and operation of end gas seals for gas compression packages are discussed.

Basic estimation criteria for tender offers on booster compressor station equipment

Andrey Voronetsky – Premium Engineering

Increasing power generation capacity leads to the construction of new or reconstruction of the existing powerplants. PGU-450 combined cycle powerplant is widely applied. Its gas turbine fuel supply system requires fuel gas pressure of 24–35 bar, certain temperature, separation efficiency and flow stability.

An unprepared improvisation for the Argentine market

There are different tactics for the military actions (offensive, defensive, partisan actions, etc.). The business competition is the same military actions obeying the same laws. In a consequence of the later invasion into the gas turbine market the Russian OEMs have to defend, so to say, on their own territory.

Absorption technology for the trigeneration power systems

Tatyana Kuzmina – BTK JSC

The active development of the independent power generation is conditioned by the growing demand in electricity, its high cost and overloading of thermal and electric grids.
The systematic analysis of not two (electricity and heat) but three kinds of consumed sourses (electricity, heat and refrigeration) at the stage of making pre-project decisions allows a further improvement of investment and operational performance of the power equipment installed at the construction sites.

The ZhS32VI alloy stability after the effect of high temperatures and operation within the D18T engine

Vladimir Lesnikov, Valery Kuznetsov, Elena Moroz – TURBOMET
Georgy Peychev, Vasily Zamkovoy, Nikolay Andreychenko – Ivchenko-Progress

The article contains results of systematic analysis of structural and phase transformations in the ZhS32VI single-crystal alloy after the effect of high temperatures and operation within the D18T engine.

Basic tendencies of gas turbine plants application at commercial ships

Victor Gorbov, Alexander Cherednichenko – Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Ukraine)

The discussions on the efficiency of gas turbines application in commercial shipbuilding often appear in specialised and scientific editions. Gas turbine engines have been used in the navy of many countries for half a century, but their use in the commercial shipbuilding is not always efficient. The main limiting factors are obviously high fuel costs due to the increased fuel quality requirements for gas turbines, and comparatively high specific fuel consumption.
